Shi married Fen. He then lodged his New Zealand residence application under family category through a well-known immigration consultancy in Auckland . During the process, his case officer questioned his health. The immigration consultancy in Auckland , was not able to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding his case, and hence, Shi’s application was declined.
Believing they had no further options, Shi and Fen were planning to return back to China . But one day before Shi’s work permit expired, the couple came to our office for help. After carefully assessing his situation, we immediately lodged a successful work permit/visa application for Shi to avoid him becoming an overstayer.
Whilst Shi was on a work permit, we prepared and lodged a new residence application for him; we arranged new medical checks and reports for him, and maintained constant and frequent communication with his doctor and case officer.
After a year, his health had improved significantly to the extent that his case officer was finally satisfied that he had an acceptable standard of health and accordingly, he and his wife were granted New Zealand residence.
