I am looking for employment in New Zealand, but employers always ask for a valid work permit, which I don't have. What can I do?
Some New Zealand employers have a policy of not making offers of employment to overseas workers unless that person has a valid permit which allows employment; this is normally because they are not experiencing a shortage of appropriately qualified and/or experienced New Zealanders for their position. However, New Zealand employers who are unable to find suitably qualified and/or experienced workers are able to make an offer of employment (and provide an appropriate job contract) to facilitate a work permit/visa application.
