What does a residence permit allow me to do?
A residence permit will allow you to live, work, and/or study in New Zealand, indefinitely. A residence permit is valid indefinitely, unless you leave New Zealand’s borders. So, permanent residents who want to be able to travel out of New Zealand and who want to be able to return to New Zealand as residents, will require a Returning Residents Visa (commonly referred to as an RRV) before your departure from New Zealand.
