Xidong – Student Visa to Declined Work Visa - Overstayer to Work Visa to Permanent residence
After Xidong’s graduation, he found a management position in a local retail outlet. Xidong authorised a local immigration consultancy to assist with his work visa application. However this work visa application was declined by INZ. Xidong then became an overstayer when his graduate student work visa expired. Faced with returning to China knowing his previous work visa was declined when he was represented by another immigration consultancy, Xidong decided to have one last go and visited our office. We reviewed Xidong circumstances and the offer of employment he had which INZ declined to issue a work visa for. We were able to gain a clearer picture as to why his work visa application was declined. We confirmed to Xidong that a well prepared work visa application with an excellent covering letter and lodged to INZ could be successful. We lodged a new work visa application for Xidong despite him being an overstayer.
Within a week, Xidong’s work visa application was approved by INZ.
After that, Xidong asked us to lodge his permanent residence application using the same offer of employment. Initially INZ took the view that Xidong’s employment was not skilled. We worked with Xidong and his employer, and INZ later visited his place of employment, after which his residence application was approved.
